In a Republican primary debate, Ramaswamy was asked whether cryptocurrencies would also provide economic freedom to bad actors. Ramaswamy stated that regulators must keep up with current trends, as wrongdoers have long been deceiving people, using the collapse of FTX as an example to prove that the current regulatory framework is ineffective.
Additionally, another Republican U.S. presidential candidate, Ron DeSantis, opposes central bank digital currencies and has pledged to eliminate central bank digital currencies if elected.
