Ripple CEO: The SEC has ignored its mission to protect investors
ChainCatcher news, according to CNBC, Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse told reporters at the Ripple Swell event in Dubai that he believes the agency has overlooked one of its key missions as a regulator. "In my view, the SEC has forgotten its mission to protect investors. The question is, who have they protected in the process?" Additionally, Garlinghouse hopes that the U.S. can move away from a situation where ongoing litigation determines cryptocurrency regulation, and shift to federal laws governing digital currencies enacted by Congress.
Previously, Ripple Labs won a three-year lawsuit against the SEC, with the district judge ruling that XRP is not a security.
