BitMEX co-founder Samuel Reed pleads guilty and agrees to pay a $10 million fine
ChainCatcher news, Samuel Reed, co-founder of the cryptocurrency trading platform BitMEX, today admitted to violating the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) for failing to establish, implement, and maintain anti-money laundering (AML) procedures at BitMEX. He agreed to pay a $10 million criminal fine under a plea agreement, which represents the economic benefits obtained from the crime.
The other two founders of BitMEX, Arthur Hayes and Benjamin Delo, pleaded guilty to the same charges in February 2022.
