As a producer and supervisor with years of experience in the traditional film industry, CyberPictures President Jonah Greenberg stated that although the current box office revenue in the film market is considerable, the global film industry still faces sustainability issues, such as tightening budgets, reduced output, frequent strikes, difficulties in fundraising, lengthy creation and production processes, and various problems that may arise.
He mentioned that during recent discussions with industry veterans like Wu Zhenyu, they lamented that twenty years ago was the golden era of the film industry, where fundraising and realizing content ideas were simple and joyful. Nowadays, "making movies" is challenging, often decided by people unrelated to the film itself, determining whether a film is worth making and whether it can be released, which harms quality content creators and audiences eager for good content.
Now, CyberPictures aims to make this process efficient through a decentralized Web3 approach, revolutionizing the film industry, upgrading business models, and striving to bridge the gap between audiences and content, connecting creators with audiences/users. By issuing RWA assets, audiences can participate early in the production and copyright of films, supporting quality content while earning returns. He expressed that this new trend excites him and other filmmakers.
Next, CyberPictures Operation Head Mihwak Yang provided a detailed introduction and analysis of how the platform will conduct business, connecting creators with audiences/fans. CyberPictures will offer one-stop services for creators, including fundraising, community building, incubation, and consulting, while providing fans with different rights at various stages and levels.
Specifically, to meet different needs, CyberPictures can provide three main types of film RWA assets:
The first is their original IFO (Initial Film Offering), aimed at early or mid-stage projects with high investment returns but certain risks; the second is STO, targeting mid to late-stage film investments, where CyberPictures will collaborate with the compliant platform Republic to initiate STOs; the third mainly targets later-stage projects, focusing on fan economy, such as issuing NFTs that bind various content consumption rights, even allowing fans to participate in film content and character naming, deeply experiencing and engaging in film production.
Additionally, Mihwak Yang showcased the platform's first film RWA project, Omeebo, which is a new film IP created by Philip Gelatt, a writer for "Love, Death & Robots," and Patrick Jean, a producer and writer for "Pixels." Users can participate in this film project by holding NFTs. Mihwak Yang played a short trailer on-site and mentioned that participants could register on the platform via a QR code to earn points, with potential opportunities for airdrops in the future. The project received enthusiastic responses from the audience.
