Linea负责人:Ethereum EIP-4844 is expected to reduce rollup costs to one-tenth
ChainCatcher news, according to Cointelegraph, Nicolas Liochon, head of Consensys's zkEVM Linea, stated that danksharding (EIP-4844) is expected to further reduce Rollup costs by a factor of 10.
Proto-danksharding, also known as Ethereum Improvement Proposal (EIP) identifier EIP-4844, aims to lower Rollup costs. Rollups typically batch process off-chain transactions and data, submitting computational proofs to the Ethereum blockchain. The Ethereum Foundation has not yet determined the expected release date for the prototype of danksharding, and development and testing are still ongoing.
Compared to transactions conducted on Ethereum Layer 1, transactions offered by Linea are 15 times cheaper, but Rollups are still limited by the fact that transactions are published in the call data of Ethereum blocks. EIP-4844 will introduce data blobs that can be sent and attached to blocks. The data stored in the blocks cannot be accessed by the Ethereum Virtual Machine and will be deleted after a certain period, which is believed to significantly reduce transaction costs.
