Ripple's Chief Legal Officer calls the SEC's latest filing a "hypocritical shift."
ChainCatcher news, according to Cointelegraph, Ripple's Chief Legal Officer Stuart Alderoty described the SEC's latest opinion as a "contradictory shift" and believes that the opinion has little influence.
After the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission recently filed documents to strengthen its interim appeal, Alderoty called the filing another instance of a "hypocritical shift." Alderoty emphasized what he sees as Gary Gensler's contradictions, manipulations, and desire to expand regulation. He pointed out that Gensler has requested an emergency appeal while insisting that crypto regulations and rules are clear and that the industry must comply.
Prominent lawyer John E. Deaton, who supports XRP, stated that those unfamiliar with the SEC's case against Ripple Labs might find Alderoty's response to the SEC quite harsh. However, for those familiar with the case, Alderoty's characterization of the SEC as "hypocritical" is merely a reflection of the federal judge overseeing the matter.
