ChainCatcher news, the Polygon official zero-knowledge proof team Polygon Zero stated that the recently released Boojum proof system by Matter Labs contains a large amount of source code copied and pasted from the performance-critical components of the Plonky2 library, without attribution to the original copyright or authors. Besides the directly copied code, Boojum is extremely similar to Plonky2. It uses the same parallel repetition strategy to enhance robustness in small ranges, employs similar custom gates for efficient recursive verification arithmetic, and utilizes the same lookup parameters developed by Polygon Zero member Ulrich Haböck.

In addition, Polygon Zero also stated that the founder of Matter Labs claims that Boojum is over 10 times faster than Plonky2, which is a misleading statement.
