Consensys is being sued by an entrepreneur over MetaMask's intellectual property
ChainCatcher news, a lawsuit filed in California courts claims that entrepreneur Joel Dietz is suing blockchain software company Consensys for adopting the idea of a web-based cryptocurrency wallet, which eventually became MetaMask.
Dietz claims that he originally developed the intellectual property for an in-browser crypto wallet during the Vapor project in 2014. For that project, Dietz recruited Consensys employee Aaron Davis in 2015 to provide coding assistance, but Dietz alleges that Davis, along with Dan Finlay, created a browser-based crypto wallet called MetaMask, and after the wallet application was launched, Consensys downplayed his involvement with MetaMask.
In response, Consensys stated that Dietz "has no connection to MetaMask" and insisted that Aaron Davis and Dan Finlay co-founded MetaMask in 2016.
