BALD skyrocketed overnight, what else is worth paying attention to in the Base ecosystem besides memes?

On July 13, the Layer 2 network Base launched its mainnet for developers. Some tools for developers are now live on the Base mainnet. Currently, although the mainnet is operational, it has not been officially released to users. The Base mainnet is expected to be officially launched in early August.
At present, there are some basic ecological projects and assets on Base. Today, the meme leader BALD has sparked heated discussions in the community with its explosive growth.
How to participate in trading before Base is officially released?
According to L2BEAT data, the total TVL of Base has surpassed $10 million, currently reaching $10.44 million, with a 7-day increase of 1024.81%.
Currently, the Base mainnet has not been officially released to the public. People may wonder how a project without an official mainnet has managed to attract capital inflow.
Base's official documentation shows that the Base official bridge is currently only connected to the testnet and cannot be used to connect to the Base mainnet. However, users can still deposit funds into L2 by manually transferring to the contract. (You can quickly add the Base network to your wallet from chainlist.)
Users can transfer ETH to the following contract address to bridge ETH from the Ethereum mainnet to Base:
0x49048044D57e1C92A77f79988d21Fa8fAF74E97e Please note that this contract can currently only receive ETH; do not send any other assets to this address. This address is only applicable to the Ethereum mainnet and cannot receive assets from other chains.
Which projects in the Base ecosystem are worth paying attention to?
Currently, the most notable project on Base is undoubtedly the meme leader, the skyrocketing BALD. This project has been around for less than 24 hours, and DEXScreener data shows that its FDV has exceeded $40 million, approximately $40.9 million. The liquidity has also reached $15.6 million.
When we search for BALD on Twitter, we also discover some interesting phenomena. Some suspected bot accounts are rapidly and frequently posting the same content. Most of these accounts have not posted any other tweets.
Aside from BALD, there are currently few other assets on Base.
At present, there is only one active swap trading platform on Base, which is LeetSwap. On-chain data shows that LeetSwap has executed over 40,000 transactions, making it the second most traded contract on the Base chain. Additionally, the most interacted contract is Base's commemorative NFT, with over 90,000 transactions.

The assets on LeetSwap are also quite limited. Besides the meme leader BALD, only two projects have gained some scale. The native token of LeetSwap, LEET, has an FDV of about $23 million. The BRIAN token from the burningbrian project has an FDV of about $710,000. Other tokens have either a market cap too small (less than $500,000) or liquidity pools too low (less than $100,000).
Not officially released yet, still waiting to get on track
According to the previously announced release plan, Base is set to officially launch in early August.
Checking its official Twitter, we can see that Base is conducting intensive promotional activities. Recently, multiple ecological partners that will "work" on Base have been announced. In just the past half month, projects including Blast API, QuickNode, Blockdaemon, thirdweb, Safe, and The Graph have all announced that they are live on the Base mainnet.
However, a closer observation reveals that these projects are primarily infrastructure-type projects, providing developers with more comprehensive tools and support. But such infrastructure projects tend to have a "reinventing the wheel" aspect. Currently, Base lacks products directly aimed at C-end users, leading to a situation where there are more "wheels" than "cars."
(Most dApps listed by the official have not yet been officially activated)
In a market situation where projects are scarce and assets are lacking, it is not surprising that this high-profile project, born with a golden spoon, is experiencing a surge in memes.
After the official launch of Base in August, will the Base ecosystem see truly "heavyweight" projects, or will it become another target with little value retention after a brief speculation?
