ChainCatcher news, Polygon's modular blockchain project Avail has open-sourced a new prototype of the Optimism EVM (OpEVM) software development kit (SDK), allowing developers to build sovereign, EVM-compatible Optimistic Rollups using OpEVM. This technology provides developers with decentralized infrastructure to run on L2, supports decentralized sequencer sets, eliminates the need to establish embedded cross-chain bridges on L1, and truly verifies state transitions in an Optimistic manner.

It is reported that OpEVM is built on top of the Avail data availability layer, which can help create Rollups that operate independently of smart contracts. OpEVM is a collaborative project between Avail and Equilibrium Group, and the OpEVM prototype has its limitations and is not yet production-ready.
