Recently, the Web3 operating protocol dappOS received investment from Binance Labs. The dappOS operating protocol includes two parts: the unified account dappOS Account based on account abstraction, and the automated execution network dappOS Network, allowing users to easily use dApps while reducing the difficulty of acquiring users across multiple chains. On July 7, dappOS released the V2 product roadmap.

1. Background

In the traditional internet world, the user-friendly interface and interactive experience provided by "operating systems" facilitated the widespread adoption of computers. As the Web3 industry matures after a decade of rapid growth, the high entry barrier for new users remains a significant challenge to the development of Web3.

2. Overview of dappOS

dappOS aims to lower the entry barrier for using Web3 applications. Its solution mainly consists of two parts: the dappOS Account based on account abstraction, and the dappOS Network that addresses the issue of automated execution.

dApps often struggle to maintain excellent liquidity across all chains while not wanting to lose users from any chain. dappOS effectively solves this problem; after integrating the front-end SDK, dApps can allow users from other public chains to use their services seamlessly without modifying contracts, thus avoiding the dispersion of liquidity across multiple chains. For example, a protocol deployed only on BSC can seamlessly attract users from other public chains like Ethereum by integrating dappOS's front-end SDK.

End users can manage multi-chain assets through dappOS and use different dApps on different chains with a single click, without the need to switch between different networks or manually transfer assets across chains and purchase Gas tokens.

3. dappOS V2

After validating and testing the MVP product, dappOS will launch its first official version V2. According to the latest disclosure of the v2 roadmap by dappOS, the main new features and characteristics of this version include: unified accounts, task-related order execution, and a new node bidding system.

The first batch of projects supported by dappOS V2 includes Benqi, Cheems, Curve, DeFi Kingdom, Frax Finance, GMX, KyberSwap, Lido, Perpetual, QuickSwap, StarryNift, SyncSwap, and SynFutures.

dappOS Account: Unified Account

dappOS Account is a unified account built on account abstraction, which can provide traders with trading services similar to CeFi while ensuring decentralization. Unlike traditional EOA accounts, account abstraction itself is a smart contract, and users do not manage their accounts solely through private keys or mnemonic phrases; similar to Web2 accounts, they can specify recovery methods such as mobile phones or emails. When users lose their mnemonic phrases or private keys, dappOS Account can be reset through various methods.

For example, if User A holds 20, 30, and 50 USDC on BNB, Arbitrum, and Ethereum respectively, User A's balance in the dappOS unified account is a total of 100 USDC. The user only needs to sign once to confirm the transaction and can use the 100 USDC balance on GMX on Arbitrum, Perpetual on OP, and Benqi on Polygon, without needing to consider which chain the USDC is on or the Gas payment issue. Compared to the complex steps of purchasing gas tokens, withdrawing to the corresponding public chain, using cross-chain bridges, and waiting for assets to cross chains, the entire transaction process is shortened from over 20 minutes to under 2 minutes.

Under the LSD and LSDFi narrative, various protocols are distributed across different L1 and L2 chains. The dappOS unified account allows users to directly manage the total assets, achieving asset universality without needing to be aware of the existence of public chains, enabling seamless interaction with dApps, and better benefiting from DeFi composability.

Task-Related Order Execution

Task-related order execution is a new feature of dappOS V2, allowing users to confirm complex transaction operations involving any number of chains in a sequential order with a single signature.

New Node Bidding System

dappOS V2 will also introduce a new node bidding system that allows users to see a list of service nodes for a target transaction, displaying the costs and time required for each service node to complete the transaction. Users can make optimal choices among different service nodes to improve transaction efficiency and reduce costs.

Under the new bidding system, service nodes receive incentive rewards, and those with high service efficiency and low costs have a higher probability of successfully "taking orders" to execute users' transaction needs, thereby promoting healthy competition among service nodes in the network and facilitating the self-renewal and optimization of the dappOS Network transaction system. The latest disclosed dappOS V2 roadmap indicates that the V2 Stage 2 phase will also launch a service node self-access platform, providing various specifications for open-source implementations.

4. Investment Institutions and Project Progress

  • In early December last year, dappOS was selected as the first operating protocol of Web3 for the fifth season of the Binance Labs incubation program, receiving support from industry resources provided by Binance Labs. In June of this year, dappOS secured funding from Binance Labs.
  • During the MVP product testing phase, dappOS has been integrated by numerous leading Web3 applications, including dozens of dApps such as GMX, Benqi, Perpetual, Pangolin, Kyber, QuickSwap, etc.
  • The first official version V2 (Major Version) will soon be launched, officially introducing features such as unified accounts (users only need to focus on the total amount of funds without distinguishing between chains, and the total balance is universally applicable across any application on any chain), task-related order execution (one signature can confirm and complete operations with sequential dependencies involving any number of chains), and a billing bidding system.

Conclusion

The release of the dappOS V2 roadmap signifies that dappOS will present a complete functional profile to the market, which is crucial for expanding the Web3 user base from millions to billions, and it also allows dappOS to continue attracting attention from top-tier capital.

From the application perspective, dappOS, as a "Web3 operating protocol," breaks down the barriers between Web3 products across different chains, helping to reduce customer acquisition costs for Web3 applications in different ecosystems. Whether it is promoting further adoption of cryptocurrencies, evolving the forms of Web3 products, or the overall future development of the Web3 world, dappOS is poised to play a positive role.
