ChainCatcher News, U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville and others have written to the U.S. Department of Justice and the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), urging them to investigate the full-service digital asset securities market Prometheum. The senator stated that Prometheum concealed the fact that it continued to receive funding and technical support from Chinese investors between December 2018 and October 2021.

The senator believes that "making false statements to Congress is a criminal act, and submitting false or misleading statements in SEC filings constitutes securities fraud. These relationships of Prometheum deeply concern each of us and many of our colleagues in Congress." Most of the House Republican lawmakers who signed this letter are members of the House Financial Services Committee, which has jurisdiction over the SEC. (Source link)
