Slow Fog: The cumulative loss from industry safety incidents in the first half of the year is 920 million USD, a year-on-year decrease of 54%
ChainCatcher news, SlowMist announced the release of the 2023 Mid-Year Blockchain Security and Anti-Money Laundering Report. The report indicates that there were a total of 185 security incidents in the first half of 2023, resulting in a loss of $920 million. This is a 54% decrease in losses compared to the first half of 2022, which saw 187 incidents causing approximately $2 billion in losses.
Additionally, SlowMist stated that despite the increasing number of security vulnerabilities in the first half of 2023, there has been a positive trend with 10 cases of stolen funds successfully recovered. Out of a total of $232 million in thefts, $219 million was successfully recovered, with full refunds in three cases. (source link)
