U.S. judge approves Hermès' request to halt all "MetaBirkin" NFT sales

ChainCatcher news, Hermès has once again won the NFT trademark infringement case against digital artist Mason Rothschild. Manhattan Judge Jed Rakoff officially approved a permanent injunction against all "MetaBirkin" NFT sales on June 23. Hermès initially filed a request to prohibit all "MetaBirkin" NFT sales in the Southern District of New York in March. It is reported that the MetaBirkin series consists of 100 NFTs of Birkin-style handbags, and Mason Rothschild has reportedly made over $1 million in sales from the project.

Previous report, the case against digital artist Mason Rothschild for NFT trademark infringement was heard in January this year. Hermès filed a lawsuit in the Southern District of New York a year ago, claiming that the "MetaBirkin" NFTs launched and sold by Mason Rothschild violated trademark law because the relevant NFT digital images were based on Hermès' most classic Birkin handbag.
