With the development of the Web3 industry, the number of users and projects is rapidly increasing, and competition is becoming more intense. How to stand out in this competition and choose the right tools is key; as the saying goes, "To do a good job, one must first sharpen their tools." Wise people should leverage their strengths. Whether users or project parties learn to effectively utilize Web3 task platform tools, they will achieve more with less effort.

1. Introduction to Web3 Task Platforms

Web3 task platforms primarily provide tasks such as following project social media accounts, answering questions, on-chain operations, and task rewards. Users can earn points, NFTs, and token rewards upon completion. Web3 task platforms serve as an entry-level education for Web3 and connect users with project parties. The Web3 task platform began in 2020 when the Web 2 social media marketing service provider Gleam.io started offering services to the Web3 industry. Since then, numerous Web3 task platforms have emerged. After two to three years of development, there are now hundreds of Web3 task projects, and they are becoming a new traffic center in the crypto world.

2. How Users Can Utilize Web3 Task Platforms

  • Web3 task platforms generally provide a relatively good user experience, with some platforms being quite interesting and easy to operate. Therefore, for newcomers to Web3, they can serve as an entry point for on-chain operations, learning basic knowledge about the Web3 industry and understanding projects or communities.

  • For seasoned Web3 practitioners, the Web3 task management platform allows them to access and learn about various projects and communities on the same platform. Some platforms even have categorization and filtering functions for projects or communities, saving users a lot of time and effort in finding quality projects of interest.

  • For users looking to earn rewards through airdrops, completing tasks on Web3 task platforms can yield corresponding rewards, such as NFTs, POAPs, airdrop qualifications, and token rewards. The investment cost and risk are relatively low, making it a high-functionality airdrop aggregation site.

  • Additionally, users can accumulate proof of their on-chain and off-chain activities by completing tasks on Web3 task platforms, which is beneficial for building their personal Web3 identity and reputation.

3. How Project Parties Can Utilize Web3 Task Platforms

  • Project parties can attract users on the platform by publishing tasks and offering rewards to achieve promotional goals. For new projects in their early stages with a low fan base, leveraging the traffic effect of Web3 task management platforms can yield relatively better marketing results. For mature project parties, they can engage in more activation and retention activities, as well as new user acquisition activities.

  • Publishing tasks on Web3 platforms is relatively simple, timely, and effective. Project parties can quickly execute a significantly impactful Web3 operational activity, increasing user numbers and usage for their projects and products.

  • Many Web3 task platforms have user data analysis functions for on-chain and off-chain activities. Project parties can filter out real users based on the task platform's data and distribute rewards, preventing airdrops to ineffective users and mitigating witch attacks, achieving precise targeting and marketing.

  • By utilizing Web3 task platforms, project parties can initiate joint marketing activities with other projects or communities on the platform.

  • Web3 task platforms feature beautiful, multi-dimensional, and detailed data dashboard displays, allowing project parties to understand the effectiveness of their activities (conversion rates), whether the user profiles reached are accurate (activity levels), and whether the task settings are reasonable (completion rates for each task), among other metrics. This enables dynamic adjustments to operational strategies.

4. Six Major Web3 Task Platforms

Currently, Web3 task platform tools are flourishing. In terms of commonalities, they are all task-based marketing tools and user growth tools for Web3. However, the entry points and focuses of each platform differ to some extent. Based on their entry points, they can be categorized into traffic, education, and niche vertical platforms. Depending on their business model focus, platforms can be divided into those leaning towards B2C, B2B, and a combination of both. VeDAO has selected six representative projects from the field for a brief introduction.

4.1. Galxe

Galxe, formerly known as Project Galaxy, is currently the largest Web3 task platform. As of June 24, 2023, it has collaborated with over 2,700 project parties/communities and launched over 10,000 tasks, boasting over 11 million Galxe ID users. Galxe allows project parties to issue NFTs on the platform, and eligible users can obtain minting qualifications. Project parties can also provide customized services through the platform's data credentials. Users can view tasks published by various projects on the platform and seek potential airdrops, participate in community activities, and discover new projects.

Galxe has built its own digital identity credential, Galxe ID, and marks on-chain activities (OAT). By analyzing on-chain data, it tags different users and generates a credential set for each quest, which can be exported as a whitelist for third-party applications (e.g., token distribution).

Most tasks launched by Galxe are specific project tasks, mainly involving following project Twitter accounts, retweeting, joining Discord, and on-chain interactions. Users earn rewards primarily in the form of OAT (on-chain achievement NFTs) and other NFTs, some of which can be sold. The tasks are numerous and somewhat complex, making them less suitable for Web3 entry-level education but ideal for airdrop hunters and advanced users to accumulate on-chain interaction records. The platform's business model leans towards B2B and is classified as a traffic platform.

Galxe also features a real-person verification module: Galxe Passport. Users can mint an SBT after providing KYC information, which is a measure against witch attacks. Galxe Credentials are user interaction credentials that are automatically granted to users by reading their on-chain and off-chain interaction records.

4.2. Zealy (formerly Crew3)

Zealy is a platform focused on promoting communities, primarily aimed at helping Web3 communities grow continuously. Zealy positions itself within Web3 Discord and has a high social attribute. The platform offers various activity templates, including daily check-ins, content creation, and invitation tasks. Compared to other platforms, Zealy is more focused and has clear categorization, along with a points ranking system. In Zealy, some project tasks require writing, screenshot proof, and invitations to complete, filtering out many automated participants to ensure user authenticity.

The tasks provided by the platform are mainly specific project tasks, where users complete tasks such as following project Twitter accounts, retweeting, joining Discord, registering project accounts, and answering project knowledge questions. Most tasks are designed for project marketing and user acquisition, so the project's business model also leans towards B2B and is classified as a traffic platform.

4.3. QuestN

QuestN (formerly Quest3) is a Web3 task activity platform incubated by Hogwarts Labs and is one of the GRT14 donation projects. The platform is characterized by serving long-tail B-end users as a Web3 task credential platform. In most mainstream task credential platforms, such as RabbitHole and Galxe, only B-end clients of a certain scale can publish tasks through the platform's filtering. However, QuestN does not set thresholds, allowing small B-end clients like KOLs, communities, and DAOs to publish tasks. To ensure the quality of B-end clients, the platform requires binding to official websites and social accounts. For tasks offering token rewards, B-end clients must also deposit the reward tokens in advance, serving as a verification measure.

The tasks provided on QuestN are mainly specific project tasks, where users complete tasks such as following project Twitter accounts, retweeting, joining Discord, and registering project accounts. The rewards include tokens, NFTs, and whitelists. Most tasks are designed for project marketing and user acquisition, so the business model also leans towards B2B and is classified as a traffic platform.

4.4. Layer3

Layer3 has designed a "New to Web3" series of tasks that guide users through on-chain interactions in areas such as Layer2, DAOs, DeFi, and NFTs, with rewards of NFTs and experience points upon completion. The NFTs earned can also be sold, but their prices are generally low. Additionally, it offers specific project tasks, mainly involving on-chain trading, staking, and adding liquidity. However, unlike Galxe, these tasks are somewhat easier and mostly do not have minimum transaction amount requirements, allowing users to complete tasks with interactions valued at 1 USD. The platform also provides task guidance, making it friendly for Web3 beginners who do not want to spend too much money. Project parties primarily aim to acquire customers and may collaborate with various interaction platforms. Project parties need to pay a certain fee to the platform and provide certain incentives to users, which could be airdrops or other rewards, so the platform's business model is a combination of B2B and B2C. It can be classified as an educational project.

4.5. RabbitHole

RabbitHole is a well-established decentralized on-chain incentive interaction platform. Its current products are divided into two categories: the Web3 new user education platform Skills and advertising Quest. One category is Skills, which currently includes four types: Layer2, DAO, DeFi, and NFT. The tasks to be completed are mostly basic Web3 on-chain operations, with detailed tutorials provided in the details of each task. Upon completing these tasks, users will receive a non-transferable "Intro to L2" NFT.

The other category of tasks is Quests, which are mostly interaction tasks published by individual project parties. In addition to NFT rewards, some Quests also reward project tokens, but tasks that reward project tokens usually require BrightID real-person verification to prevent witch attacks (where a user disguises themselves as multiple identities to operate).

Overall, RabbitHole provides relatively detailed entry-level education for Web3 on-chain operations, making it suitable for novice users, although it has weaker partnerships with project parties. RabbitHole announced in February 2022 that it had completed a $18 million Series A funding round, led by Greylock and TCG Crypto. Its business model leans towards B2C and can be classified as an educational project.

4.6. TaskOn

TaskOn is a Web3 task collaboration platform dedicated to the marketing and operational growth of Web3 projects. TaskOn is part of the Moonbeam series of applications. The platform can provide some automation features to reduce operational processes. For example, API-Verified can help automatically verify whether participants have performed specific product operations. The platform also has an automatic reward distribution feature, which can immediately distribute rewards after an event ends, with the project party only needing to create the event and deposit sufficient rewards (tokens or NFTs) into their TaskOn account. TaskOn can also create events for the event organizers, further reducing their operational burden. Among current Web3 task platforms, TaskOn is one of the most user-friendly and rapidly developing platforms. Due to a series of anti-bot measures, it currently has one of the highest real user rates (up to 92.9%). The platform's business model leans towards B2B and is classified as a traffic platform.
