CNBC: Microsoft signs a multi-billion dollar multi-year agreement with CoreWeave

ChainCatcher news, according to CNBC citing informed sources, Microsoft has signed a multi-year agreement worth billions of dollars with CoreWeave, which is transitioning from an Ethereum mining company to a general cloud computing platform. CoreWeave announced on May 31 that it has raised $200 million in a Series B extension round from Magnetar Capital, in addition to the $221 million Series B funding led by Magnetar Capital announced in April, bringing CoreWeave's total Series B funding to $421 million.

It is reported that CoreWeave was founded in 2017 by Intrator, Brian Venturo, and Brannin McBee. Initially, CoreWeave focused on cryptocurrency applications, but it has begun to shift towards general computing and AI generation technologies, such as text generation AI models, in recent years.

ChainCatcher previously reported that CoreWeave announced the completion of a $221 million Series B funding round, led by Magnetar Capital, with participation from NVIDIA, former GitHub CEO Nat Friedman, and former Apple executive Daniel Gross. Magnetar Capital contributed $111 million, with the remaining investment shared among NVIDIA, Friedman, and Gross. (Source link)
