Decentralized, user-owned infrastructure provider ByteTrade Lab announced a long-term industry partnership with the DeFi research program at UC Berkeley on April 25, 2023, to jointly develop advanced decentralized computing and identification technologies.
This partnership combines ByteTrade's commercial advantages with UC Berkeley's academic resources, aiming to accelerate the development of Web3 technology and transform the way users interact with the internet and financial services.
Dr. Lucas Lu, CEO of ByteTrade Lab, stated, "We are excited to collaborate with the faculty and outstanding students at Berkeley to build Web3 infrastructure. We will work together to power projects such as decentralized ID and decentralized privacy using ByteTrade's proprietary operating system technology."
Dr. Allen Y. Yang, founding executive director of the Berkeley FHL Vive Center and DeFi research program, remarked, "The exponential growth of new technologies like Web3 presents innovative opportunities for academia while closely tracking the most significant challenges faced by the industry. We are thrilled to bring this partnership with ByteTrade to Berkeley, continuing the tradition of technological innovation. I believe the new Web3 computing infrastructure will be applied to many suitable research projects, sufficiently demonstrating the importance of these infrastructures in the future and the significance of data privacy."
Founded in 2018, ByteTrade aims to empower users to reclaim their data. To this end, ByteTrade plans to launch a Web3 operating system in 2023 that leverages a decentralized edge computing architecture to address bottlenecks in consumer data storage, data privacy, and data sharing, enabling end users to have full control over their personal data.
The DeFi research program at UC Berkeley was established in 2021 to promote research and educational programs at the intersection of artificial intelligence, the metaverse, and decentralized technologies (such as public chains and smart contracts). We believe that decentralized technology will lay the foundation for connecting key human elements and future metaverse applications.
