ChainCatcher news, the Governor of Florida has signed a bill banning Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDC). Now other states are considering similar measures, including Louisiana, Alabama, Texas, and North Dakota, all of which have drafted bills opposing the implementation of a digital dollar.

Unlike decentralized cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum, CBDCs are supervised and operated by a centralized entity. The U.S. central bank, the Federal Reserve, has been discussing CBDCs but has not provided substantial details about whether it plans to issue one. Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell stated in March that a decision on whether to issue a U.S. CBDC has not yet been finalized. (source link)
