The easily overlooked Web3 growth dilemma: Is the growth platform itself also growing?
Author: Web3Traveler
In the Web3 industry, choosing the right tools can significantly boost project development. Regardless of the type of project, there is a strong demand for continuous user growth and thriving communities. The Web3 task platform can be seen as an upgrade of Gleam in Web2, mobilizing user enthusiasm in a decentralized manner and allowing for more open and transparent reward distribution.
Many project teams are eager to use task platforms at critical moments such as launches or new product releases to further drive user growth. This is often a low-cost action that yields excellent results. Ultimately, the rewards are given back to the users, greatly enhancing their goodwill. The effects are also gratifying, bringing a large influx of traffic in a short period.
As the demand for task platforms increases, many have emerged, leaving project teams confused about which platform to choose. Should they consider the number of tasks, the number of active addresses, or focus on social media growth?
All these data points can be factors for evaluation, but what is often overlooked is whether the task platform itself is also experiencing active growth.
The reason for pondering this question is that task platforms not only need to provide project teams with a sufficient potential fan base but also need to achieve sustainable growth themselves to maintain competitiveness, continuously supplying quality users to project teams.
Growth Analysis
Since Web3 tasks generally involve the basic behavior of following Twitter, I have compiled social media data from the current task platforms on the market, organized into the table below for project teams to reference.
All platforms show an upward trend. The follower growth rate reflects the relative growth ratio over a 30-day period. The screenshot uses Galxe as an example.
According to the statistics (data was captured on May 11, 2023, at 21:00 UTC), the top three platforms by follower growth rate are TaskOn, Galxe, and Layer3. The growth rates of the first two are as high as 114.3% and 71.6%, demonstrating rapid growth.
We also observed recent dynamics that have led to the rapid growth of these platforms.
TaskOn
In the past 30 days, TaskOn has achieved a growth rate of 114.3%, with the number of new followers ranking first, exceeding 80,000.
Recent activities hosted by TaskOn include a USDD giveaway, a collaboration with Hyperpay x PepeAi, and in-depth cooperation with popular projects like Optimism and Zetachain, keeping pace with industry trends.
At the end of April and the beginning of May, TaskOn released two new versions consecutively, v1.6.2 and v1.6.3, introducing a series of creative features and advantages for both B-end and C-end users, such as pre-release testing activities, flexible token rewards set in USD, and adding YouTube viewing tasks to optimize the TaskOn lottery algorithm in a fair manner. This fully reflects its active collaboration with external partners.
Not only does TaskOn actively promote its own growth and bring growth to project teams, but it also pays attention to the experience of ordinary users by launching a beginner task section. Users can see how many rewards have been claimed so far, including tokens, NFTs, and whitelist spots.
In terms of membership systems, TaskOn has introduced two types of rewards: CAP and EXP. Users can earn EXP by participating in activities, and once they accumulate a certain amount, they can exchange EXP for more rewards. The value of EXP can be viewed after logging into the platform.
The method of using EXP has not yet been disclosed, and perhaps more gameplay awaits unlocking.
Galxe
Galxe is an established task platform that speaks for itself and continues to maintain strong growth momentum.
It was previously reported that its token Galxe (GAL) unlocked 7,614,266.67 tokens on May 5 at 20:00, valued at approximately $13.7 million, accounting for 3.807% of the total supply.
In terms of ecosystem, Galxe has partnered with the popular OKX wallet. Users can connect their OKX Web3 wallet on the Galxe platform to establish and complete Web3 chain tasks. Additionally, Galxe has been included in the Discover section of the OKX Web3 wallet, allowing users to log into the Galxe platform with one click. Wallet users can more directly publish activities, and platform users now have an additional entry point to publish tasks.
At the same time, Galxe recently announced the launch of a loyalty points system, further deepening its membership system.
As loyalty increasingly attracts user attention, we look forward to more loyalty-related updates from Galxe.
Layer3
Recently, Layer3's most eye-catching feature is the Chest, which allows users to immerse themselves in a game-like experience.
The Chest contains XP and digital collectibles to enhance users' cryptocurrency exploration experience. Users can find one exclusive digital collectible in the chest to use over the next four weeks.
According to Layer3's official description, the team is committed to making Layer3 not just a platform, but an experience, an adventure, a journey. This somewhat showcases the combination of Gamefi and task platforms.
Based on their recently announced activities, some are marked with "beginner" difficulty, presenting users with a sense of challenge.
Conclusion
The Web3 task platform sector still has many dynamics and innovations worth exploring. As a tool at the forefront of project development, they use multiple methods to promote high-efficiency ecological prosperity for project teams while opening a window for users to access information, and more importantly, bringing actual benefits and a sense of participation.
Achieving growth in Web3 has never been a one-time effort, but project teams can choose to grow alongside task platforms while acquiring traffic. Paying attention to the growth data of the platforms themselves can help make more comprehensive choices, laying a solid foundation for the healthy growth of their users.
