DAO Black Mountain: Exploring Organizational Challenges in Global Crises with Vitalik
Author: SeeDAO
The 2023 Ethereum Community Development Conference (EDCON) will be held in Montenegro from May 19 to May 23. Heavyweight guests including Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin, author of the renowned book The Network State Balaji, and other notable figures have confirmed their attendance.
Decentralized Autonomous Organizations (DAOs) are one of the most important applications of blockchain technology, with the potential to transform traditional centralized governance models into more democratic, transparent, and decentralized forms of organization. In the face of the myriad global crises today, there is a call for new organizational orders and ways of life, making DAOs one of the most significant propositions of our time. On May 21-22, SeeDAO will collaborate with Buidler DAO and Mask Network to host the DAO Montenegro Conference.
As one of the most important sub-events of EDCON 2023, the DAO Montenegro Conference invites thinkers, developers, DAO builders, researchers, investors, and media professionals from around the world to discuss cutting-edge topics of interest to global DAO explorers, produce works and influence in the Chinese-speaking DAO community, and connect with other DAO organizations and explorers worldwide to envision the future and collaborate.
We are very excited to announce the following guests will attend the conference, including Ethereum founder Vitalik, Shrey Jain, an applied scientist and decentralized social technology expert at Microsoft Research, Michael, co-founder of Humanity, John Ellison, founder of RefiDAO, and Qiu Linchuan, a media technology professor at Nanyang Technological University. We hope that the 21st and 22nd will become a deep collision of ideas and builders from home and abroad, promoting in-depth exchanges between Chinese-speaking DAOs and other language DAOs.
This event has received significant sponsorship support from MXC, zCloak, Beosin, GreenPill, Sendingme, Kucoin Ventures, and EthSign. We also plan to provide project venue support for all Chinese-speaking side events at the Hilton Montenegro from May 21-23, creating the largest Web3 Buidler Meetup in Montenegro. The event is still open for partnerships; interested partners can contact JoySongYiCong ( Head of DAO Montenegro Outreach Team) and MiaoFrank1229.
The DAO Montenegro event will focus on topics of greatest concern to builders, including but not limited to transhumanism brought about by technological change, public goods and DeSci (decentralized academic networks), how DAOs as a new organizational structure can improve governance efficiency and provide new value and innovation to current social organizational structures, the philosophical perspective of DAO tools, digital nomads, and network states. Additionally, we will provide an open platform for communication and interaction, allowing DAO builders and other participants to share their thoughts and experiences, exploring how to better apply decentralized technology and blockchain technology to promote the development and innovation of DAOs.
In today's world, where technological change and paradigm shifts are imminent and global economic and political crises are rampant, how will we construct new social and business orders? DAO Montenegro, let’s go to Montenegro, and we look forward to colliding and discussing with everyone.
Conference Themes
1. Transhumanism
Is the human body a machine that can be manipulated and repaired by technology?
Is it possible for us to "live to 1000 years" and possess computational power that seems god-like today?
Can we use rapidly advancing science and technology to enhance our minds, bodies, abilities, and qualifications, overcoming disabilities, diseases, suffering, aging, and death?
Let’s discuss the paths pointed to by AGI, Longevity, Network States, and Crypto, and contemplate the future of transhumanism.
2. Public Goods and DeSci
What is the current state of public goods in the Ethereum ecosystem? How has its fundraising method changed?
Why has DeSci (decentralized academic networks) made rapid progress in the field of biology? Is it possible for a new global academic network to form based on blockchain in the future? Could the emergence of AGI accelerate the organization of academic networks and promote their rapid development?
We will invite core KOLs from Gitcoin, NounsDAO, and the DeSci field to introduce the latest developments in Public Goods and DeSci.
3. DAO and Platform Cooperativism
Can DAOs solve the massive unemployment problem caused by AI and help people find new value in the social coordinates?
When we think about the latest organizational forms in the cyber world, what can past human practices in cooperatives offer?
Let’s explore new organizational solutions under geopolitical crises and the productivity revolution brought by AI, and discuss the application of DAOs in different social organizations, effective governance structures, and DAO business models.
4. Philosophical Perspectives of DAO Tools
The development of DAOs has called for new DAO tools, and these new tools have shaped people's imagination of DAOs.
So, what development trends do DAOs present on different public chain ecosystems like Ethereum, Bitcoin, and Cosmos?
In this section, we will discuss the toolkit of DAOs, the impact of artificial intelligence on DAO tools, and how Web3 applications can achieve mass adoption through DAOs. We will focus on the philosophical perspective of the products built by these DAO tools: what kind of organizations do people hope to create with these tools?
5. Digital Nomads and Network States
Network States is one of the most discussed and controversial topics at this Montenegro Zuzalu.
So: how can we create a new order through Network States, allowing ordinary people to gain more choices in the adverse effects of geopolitical conflicts?
How can we promote communication and cooperation among people of different cultures, languages, and backgrounds in digital city-states, achieving a true global village?
Let’s discuss this together at the DAO Montenegro event. State explorers will take the stage to share their stories, practices, and thoughts.
Event Format
In this event, we will explore this series of topics through the following formats:
1. Sharing and Speeches
Invite global DAO builders and Network State explorers to take the stage and share their stories, practices, and thoughts.
2. Workshops
Engage in deep discussions based on topics that concern us all, collaboratively producing potential solutions and consensus.
