As NFTs continue to thrive in various artistic fields, generative art created through programming or computer algorithms, utilizing randomness and logical rules, is gradually gaining more attention and occupying an important position in the NFT art domain.
In the spring of 2023, Taiwan's most influential generative art exhibition, "Taipei Generative Scene: Archipelago Mosaic 2023," will officially debut at the Feng Chia Museum of Art from April 22 to May 21. This article will highlight three major features of the event.
Highlight 1: Generative Art NFT Exhibition Makes Its Debut in Taiwanese Art Museum
The "Taipei Generative Scene: Archipelago Mosaic 2023" is the "first official generative art exhibition" to be held in a museum in Taiwan.
It brings together Taiwan's first artist to appear on Art Blocks, Wang Xinren, Huang Xin, whose works have been selected by the Taipei Contemporary Art Museum, renowned Art Blocks artist Lin Yiwen residing in the UK, Canadian artist Matt DesLauriers, Bruneian artist Yazid Azahari, and 14 creators from Poland, Switzerland, and other regions, active on Ethereum and Tezos chains, to explore the infinite possibilities of generative art.

Highlight 2: Combining Video and Installation to Create the Joy of Instant Generation
This exhibition combines multiple materials to create an immersive art experience for the audience, which can be divided into three main thematic exhibition areas:
Area 1: Solo Exhibitions by Artists - The exhibited works are instantly generated, allowing on-site audiences to interact in real-time, including the currently popular AI generation systems.
Area 2: Thematic Special Exhibitions - In generative art, "Recursiveness" is a widely used concept, through which generative artists create various complex and unique patterns and creations.
Area 3: Installation Exhibitions - This area not only presents a comparison of the museum's embroidered pieces and digital coded works but also features a machine drawing generator that creates generative art pieces on-site. Matt DesLauriers' work "Folio" exhibition old photo illustration
Highlight 3: On-site Minting of Attendance Certificates
Notably, this exhibition also offers an interactive experience where visitors can mint attendance certificates on-site, creating unique NFT works by manually adjusting parameters. Additionally, the exhibition will provide:
- Practical tools and resources to help the public further understand the process and related technologies of generative art and NFTs.
- On-site seminars (April 30, May 13, May 14, May 21), inviting artists to discuss generative technology and NFTs in diverse discussions.
- A platform for enthusiasts and practitioners of generative art and NFTs to communicate, learn, and collaborate.
Curatorial Team Introduction
This exhibition is organized by the well-known Taiwanese crypto art group "Volume DAO." Established at the end of 2021, Volume DAO consists of collectors, artists, curators, critics, and activists, and has actively promoted blockchain and artificial intelligence art since curating "Do Machines Dream of NFTs?" (independent curation) and "The Support of Dreams, the Surface of Objects" (2022 Taipei Contemporary Art Biennale participation), aiming to co-create an artistic ecosystem in the Web 3.0 era with creators and collectors.
