According to ChainCatcher news and the official announcement, the Helium network has completed its migration to the Solana network. This upgrade implements several technical changes to Helium, including the addition of smart contract functionality, the introduction of a dynamic market for on-demand reward distribution, reduced transaction costs, direct access to DeFi features, a larger global developer community, network functions moving to oracles to enhance network efficiency, compatibility with the Solana Program Library (SPL), changes to HNT token functionality, and changes to voting and governance.

Among these, regarding the changes to HNT token functionality, the current native token HNT will no longer be mined by LoRaWAN hotspots, but will instead be replaced by the mining of IOT, which will serve as the incentive and governance token for the Helium IoT network; HNT will still be the exclusive token for using the network; HNT will still be burned to obtain Data Credits (DC).
