MetaMask: 5000 ETH stolen was not due to its vulnerability
ChainCatcher news, the encrypted wallet MetaMask tweeted that the conclusion drawn by Twitter user @tayvano_ regarding the large-scale wallet theft being caused by a MetaMask vulnerability is incorrect. The theft of over 5000 ETH from 11 on-chain addresses is not specifically attributed to a MetaMask vulnerability, and the claim that MetaMask wallets were hacked is incorrect. They are currently collaborating with practitioners in the Web3 wallet field to investigate the source of this vulnerability.
Previous news, MetaMask security team member @tayvano_ reminded on Twitter that a large number of wallet users' private keys may have been leaked between 2014-2022, potentially leading to the theft of over 5000 ETH. (Source link)
