Thai prime minister candidate: If elected, will distribute 10,000 baht in digital currency to each citizen aged 16 and above
ChainCatcher news, according to the Bangkok Post, real estate tycoon and Thai prime ministerial contender Srettha Thavisin has promised that if elected as prime minister and forms a government after the May 14 election, he will distribute 10,000 baht (approximately 300 USD) in digital currency to each citizen aged 16 and above for local economic stimulus projects.
Pheu Thai's Chief Advisor for Public Participation and Innovation, Paetongtarn Shinawatra, described the project as a blockchain-based effort aimed at helping sell Thai-made products abroad and bringing digital currency into the country. In the early stages of the project, the 10,000 baht will be spent within a 4-kilometer community range over 6 months to attract international digital currency. (source link)
