OpenAI CEO's cryptocurrency project Worldcoin launched a decentralized identity protocol "World ID"
ChainCatcher message, the identity-centric crypto project Worldcoin co-founded by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, has launched the decentralized identity protocol "World ID." Through PoP credentials, the World ID protocol enables everyone to prove their humanity online without the need for a third party. The protocol utilizes zero-knowledge proofs to maximize privacy, ultimately being managed by individuals through World ID itself.
Currently, the initial versions of hardware devices, mobile clients, and deployment mechanisms have been implemented, all of which will gradually become decentralized. Applications can interact with this proof on the protocol through the recently launched SDK. The protocol itself is permissionless and is designed to ultimately support a variety of credentials that anyone can prove.
World ID will be compatible with verified credential standards, allowing for the representation of the diversity of personal social interactions (soulbound tokens, cross-social data, etc.). As of now, over 1.4 million people have participated. (source link)
