ChainCatcher news, Belgium's Digital Minister Mathieu Michel stated in an interview that after regulating cryptocurrencies, European politicians are considering building a privacy-respecting, customized blockchain called Europeum.

Michel mentioned that the new "Europeum" blockchain could serve as a tool for recording property ownership, driving licenses, or professional qualifications, while adhering to the EU's high regulatory standards. Following a series of scams and scandals in the market, Michel advocates shifting from purely financial applications of distributed technology to public services and supply chain management.

It is reported that the EU will vote on the Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA) in April. (CoinDesk)
