Mina Protocol: zkIgnite Cohort 1 Overview
Author: Mina Protocol Official
Are you ready to develop interesting decentralized applications that leverage zero knowledge to fundamentally change the way we interact with data? The zkIgnite Cohort 1 lasts for three months and aims to help developers and entrepreneurs turn their innovative ideas into real-world applications, building successful applications on the Mina protocol. As part of the community grant distribution program, the foundation offers up to $500,000 USDC and 500,000 MINA to fund zkApp businesses and key developer tools that will ultimately drive the Mina ecosystem forward.
The program will focus on a specific theme each week to guide participants through the process of creating, deploying, and scaling zkApps. This program is not limited to developers; it is open to anyone passionate about developing zkApps and is driven by a vibrant community. You can participate in various ways; whether you are a developer, founder, designer, marketer, or simply interested in developing tools for other developers, you can find your place in zkIgnite. Register for zkIgnite Cohort 1 now zkIgnite Cohort 1 Program Details During the 12-week zkIgnite program, participants will engage in a series of weekly meetings and challenges, including:
Proposing innovative ideas
Drafting high-quality proposals
Forming teams
Fundraising
Budgeting and planning
Technical support throughout the development process
Introduction to venture capital and impact funds for additional funding
zkIgnite is entirely community-driven, which is why we have also launched Mina's innovation platform, a new space for zkIgnite participants to collaborate. You can form teams and submit funding proposals on the platform, as well as vote on which projects to fund. Participants will also have the opportunity to work online together through weekly meetings and dedicated Telegram and Discord channels.
Choose Your Way to Participate
zkApp Challenge
Participants in Cohort 1 will form teams around zkApp ideas aimed at solving real-world problems. Teams are not restricted by any specific structure, but we encourage each team to have at least 1-2 technical developers. We welcome everyone to join Cohort 1, including non-technical builders and community members. Below we list the potential roles for participants in the zkApp Challenge.
Web3 & ZK Developers
Founders
Designers and Marketers
Dev4Dev Challenge Developers who want to create tools that help other developers work more easily and effectively within the Mina ecosystem.
- Tools built in the Dev4Dev Challenge will be crowdsourced to participants of Cohort 1.
Cohort 1 requires participants to commit 12 weeks of time, including attending weekly workshops and meetings. However, the time is flexible, and you can invest as much time as your schedule allows. If you are passionate and committed to building a successful zkApp business, this is a great opportunity for you to invest your efforts, as you will receive ample opportunities and funding rewards.
Proposal Feedback -- In addition to submitting proposals for the zkApp and Dev4Dev challenges, we invite the Mina community to join Cohort 1 and provide feedback throughout the proposal development process. You can join and share your thoughts without being associated with a team! Funding
Successful projects will be eligible for funding from the Mina Foundation to help them continue developing zkApps.
The Mina Foundation will provide $500,000 USDC and 500,000 MINA for zkApp and Dev4Dev challenges and various participations in Cohort 1.
Funding allocation decisions will be made by "electors," a group composed of experienced developers and community members from the Mina ecosystem.
