Slow Fog: Hackers Earned $12.972 Million Through Monkey Drainer Phishing

ChainCatcher news, SlowMist Technology published an analysis of the Monkey Drainer phishing organization. After investigation, it was found that there are 1,708 malicious addresses associated with the Monkey Drainer NFT phishing group, of which 87 are original phishing addresses. The earliest identified group of active on-chain addresses can be traced back to August 19, 2022, and has remained active to this day.

The total profit generated by the Monkey Drainer phishing is approximately $12.972 million, with a total of 7,059 NFTs stolen. The hackers profited 4,695.91 ETH, approximately $7.61 million, accounting for 58.66% of the total profit. Additionally, the stolen ERC20 tokens amount to about $5.362 million, accounting for 41.34% of the hackers' total profit, with the main ERC20 token gains coming from USDC, USDT, LINK, ENS, and stETH.
