ChainCatcher news, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) confirmed on Monday that Lazarus Group and APT 38 were behind the $100 million theft of the Harmony Horizon cross-chain bridge last June, and are laundering the funds through the RAILGUN privacy protocol. The FBI stated that North Korea is using the funds obtained from hacking attacks to finance its ballistic missile and weapons of mass destruction programs. In April last year, Lazarus Group was also confirmed to be linked to the $600 million Ronin exploit.

Previous report, on January 16, the Harmony hacker began transferring funds from the BTC address withdrawn from the exchange. After several days of multi-layer transfers, some of the funds were transferred back to the exchange, while another portion was cross-chained to the Avalanche chain via the Avalanche Bridge, and then exchanged for USDT/USDD after multiple cross-chain transfers, which were transferred to the ETH/Tron chain mixed currency network.
