The winners of the Polkastarter GAM3 Awards, known as the Grammy Awards for web3 games, have been crowned. The 16 winners were announced at a live event on December 15, marking the conclusion of the inaugural industry awards.

The GAM3 Game of the Year award attracted the most attention, recognizing the best web3 games that blur the lines between traditional gaming and blockchain gaming. As for the Best Content Creator award, 23 unique web3 game content creators were nominated, with the best content creator determined only on the last day of voting.

Thanks to partners such as Immutable X, Blockchain Game Alliance, Machinations, Ultra, Naavik, Galxe, Hacken, Venly, HackenProof, Shorooq, Elixir, Arcade, and MetaCon for their contributions, services, and grants, the winners will share prizes worth over $1 million.

The jury for the awards included Justin Kan, founder of Fractal; Urvit Goel, Global Head of Games at Polygon Studios; Itai Elizur, Managing Partner at Market Across; Rachel Levin, Director of Risk and Strategy at ImmutableX; Matt Sorg, Technical Director at the Solana Foundation; Edward Chang, Head of Games at Avalanche; and Yoshihisa Hashimoto, co-founder of Lv.99 and veteran in the gaming industry.

October 23 marked the announcement of the first GAM3 awards. Since then, hundreds of web3 games have urged their communities to nominate and vote for them in various categories. Thousands of social posts were spread across partners, games, media outlets, content creators, and community members, estimated to reach over 11 million.

Community voting played a decisive role in the final decision with over 250,000 votes cast across all 16 categories. More than 40,000 independent voters participated and sent over 13,000 tweets using the #GAM3Awards hashtag.

The judging criteria for the games included core loop, graphics, accessibility, replayability factors, fun elements, and overall gaming experience. To qualify, games must integrate and utilize blockchain technology, although the focus is on playability.

Nominees in these categories were selected by an international jury of gaming, media, and web3 experts, whose impartial perspectives and quality focus were chosen. Each voting body completed confidential, unranked voting based on the collective and diverse opinions of its editorial staff, listing the top five choices in each category.

The GAM3 Awards also showcased exclusive glimpses of highly anticipated web3 games, including Blocklords, Mythic Protocol, Cards of Ethernity, Mummy.io, and Elarium. Additionally, several other web3 games chose this event to showcase their upcoming announcements and unreleased game footage.
