ChainCatcher News, on December 16, the U.S. Department of Justice announced that Greenwood pleaded guilty in Manhattan federal court to charges of wire fraud, conspiracy to commit wire fraud, and conspiracy to commit money laundering, each carrying a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison, facing up to 60 years in total.

Previous reports indicated that OneCoin was launched in 2014 and was exposed as a Ponzi scheme in 2017, leading to the disappearance of its key figures, with global losses potentially reaching billions of dollars. In October of this year, three suspects involved in the OneCoin fraud case appeared in a German court. Founder Ignatova remains at large. (Cointelegraph)
