Ripple seeks crypto license in Ireland to drive EU expansion
ChainCatcher news, according to CNBC, the crypto payment platform Ripple is seeking regulatory approval from the Republic of Ireland to enter the European market. Ripple's European expansion plans stem from the expectation that the EU's MiCA crypto regulations will come into effect in the coming years.
Ripple's General Counsel Stuart Alderoty stated that Ripple already has two employees in the jurisdiction and is seeking a Virtual Asset Service Provider (VASP) license from the Central Bank of Ireland so that it can "passport" its services throughout the EU via an entity based in the EU. Ripple also plans to apply for an e-money license in Ireland as soon as possible. (CNBC)
