Hong Kong Monetary Authority Chief Executive: Open to reviewing the ownership of tokenized assets and smart contracts
ChainCatcher news, during a speech at the Hong Kong FinTech Week, the President of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, Eddie Yue, discussed the ownership of tokenized assets, stating, "We recognize that virtual assets have unique characteristics that differ from traditional assets, and these characteristics may not fully align with the categories or definitions of existing private property law in Hong Kong. To facilitate adoption and enhance investor protection, the government will take an open approach to the review of the ownership of tokenized assets and the legality of smart contracts in the future, in order to provide a solid legal foundation for their development."
