According to ChainCatcher, Mairead McGuinness, the EU Financial Services Commissioner, stated that the EU is seeking to exchange views with U.S. officials on the development of cryptocurrency legislation during the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank annual meetings next week, in order to establish a more coordinated global regulatory framework. The EU will prioritize cryptocurrency as a key agenda item for the meeting.

Mairead said: "I believe they want to know what we have done, what progress has been made, what issues exist, and they also want to hear about the U.S. plans. We are the frontrunners in this area, but it is not enough to solve the crypto issues only within the EU; we need global participation and sharing of experiences." (Bloomberg)
