Coinbase supports CFTC regulation of cryptocurrency spot trading
According to Chain Catcher news and a report by Decrypt, Coinbase's U.S. policy head Kara Calvert stated that the trading platform supports two bills currently under congressional review, which would allow and authorize the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) to regulate cryptocurrency spot markets.
It is reported that the CFTC can currently only regulate crypto derivatives (such as futures), and authorizing the regulation of spot cryptocurrencies means that the CFTC can oversee real-time trading on crypto trading platforms. (Decrypt)
