Chain Catcher news, Molly Mackinley, head of development at Protocol Labs, stated at an event in Singapore on Monday that the Filecoin Virtual Machine (FVM) is expected to be released in early 2023, with the first testnet launching on November 28 of this year. The Layer 2 prototype (or a single blockchain running on the main chain) is already in initial testing and will enable a more scalable Filecoin network after its launch.

Previously reported, Protocol Labs founder Juan Benet mentioned that a series of testnets will be launched from now until the first quarter of next year, allowing development teams to build on the testnets. Currently, 25 teams are already developing on the testnet. More than 2,000 new projects are currently being developed or have been deployed on Filecoin, and Filecoin also plans to launch the FVM testnet. (CoinDesk)
