Vitalik posted: ENS domain names are very cheap, and recurring fees should be introduced to increase DAO revenue

2022-09-09 11:49:32

Chain Catcher news, Vitalik published an article on his personal website discussing whether ENS domain names should introduce demand-based recurring fees. Vitalik stated that today's ENS domain names are very cheap, which raises the issue of the trade-off between property intensity and fairness, and the high speculation in the ENS secondary market cannot ensure market effectiveness.

Vitalik suggested considering the introduction of demand-based recurring fees for ENS domain names, specifically bidding for the annual fee of ENS domain names, thereby pricing the annual fees of high-demand ENS domain names in a market-oriented manner. This approach could increase the cost of domain name squatting while also generating revenue for the ENS DAO. (source link)
