Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) was founded in 2009, with its two founders, Marc Lowell Andreessen and Ben Horowitz, combining their last names to create the name of this well-known venture capital firm. Marc Lowell Andreessen and Ben Horowitz were the founders of the famous American communications company Mosaic in the last century.
